Highlights from the Attenborough Collection have been generously loaned to York Art Gallery by Leicester's New Walk Museum and Art Gallery, by kind permission of the Estate of Lord and Lady Attenborough.
The Attenboroughs began collecting ceramics by Picasso in 1954 and continued for over 50 years, building one of the most significant private collections in the UK.
The exhibition is presented in the Centre of Ceramic Art (CoCA), surrounded by examples of ceramic work by more than 600 artists, including those key to the founding of the British Studio Ceramics movement.
For those of you yet to visit the gallery, you are in for a treat. We are very privileged to have a collection of this importance here, in the centre of York.
